Recently, I captured an unforgettable morning proposal at Crested Butte, CO for Tim and Rachel. This engagement session was truly one for the books. Just before we kicked off the shoot, Tim surprised Rachel with a proposal during the blue hour, and she said, YES! This entire session from start to finish was so magical! Getting to document this huge moment for this precious couple was an honor that I will always be so grateful for. Let’s dive in!

The Big Moment

As the first light began to touch the peaks of Crested Butte, Tim knew it was his moment. The blue hour provided an incredible and dreamy backdrop for their special moment. Rachel was taken completely by surprise and instantly said yes! The joy on their faces was so genuine and beautiful, and I was thrilled to capture those real emotions right as they unfolded!

Making the Most of the Morning

After the proposal, we didn’t waste any time… or light! We moved straight into the engagement session that took full advantage of the stunning scenery around us. They ran through the fields of wildflowers holding hands just as the sun started to peak out over the mountains. The early morning light gave everything a soft, natural glow that truly brought the images to life. Their pure joy exploded through the photos and their love for each other was so clear!

Capturing True Emotion

Both Tim and Rachel were honestly a dream to photograph. Their happiness was evident in every shot. Whether they were laughing or sharing a quiet moment, their love came through so clearly in the pictures. Getting to witness a love like theirs is rare, which makes it that much more magical. The combination of the couple, vibrant flowers, and the soft morning light made my job a dream!

Why a Morning Proposal Works

I couldn’t recommend a surprise proposal followed by an engagement session more. It captures the raw, unfiltered emotions that are hard to replicate later. In Tim and Rachel’s case, the decision to pop the question in such a picturesque setting led to some of my favorite photos. It’s an approach worth considering if you want to make the moment even more special!
